Good for its intended purpose.

This book is written in a colloquial tone that may be off-putting to some, though amusing at first. It is a reasonably quick read; if your goal is to get a sense of the lay of TEE land and to get your feet wet, this book could serve that purpose. I think it would be difficult to pass the PTEeXAM based solely on this text.
There is one section that this book hits out of the park -- hemodynamic calculations. Concise and easy to understand. Run through those a few times and you'll be able to nail any hemodynamic calculation question asked of you on the boards. Great demonstration of how to use PISA to calculate an EROA, etc.
Summary: not detailed enough to serve as your primary text if you're taking the PTEeXAM. Reasonable introduction to TEE and concepts. Great treatment of hemodynamic calculations.

Excellent book, a study guide that clearly and with humor explains TEE basics. Also points you in the right direction for meetings, comprehensive texts, CD-ROMs etc.
If you are new to echo or are thinking about starting a TEE program buy this book.

The place to start...

It is quite true that this book is not sufficiently comprehensive to give you a thorough & in depth knowledge of TEE; it never claims to do that. As someone who has purchased many, if not most, of the available TEE books, I would recommend Andre Denault's new edition as by far the most comprehensive.
What Chris Gallagher's book does far better than any other is to take someone with no prior knowledge or familiarity with TEE, & give him/her what they need to get started. It is by far the best at taking what could otherwise become an intimidating & daunting task, making it quickly seem attainable, & making it fun along the way.
I never take the time to write reviews, but I hope you find this helpful.
