The author has displayed a full knowledge of appropriate methodology and comprehensive approach to the subject.

Although the content is limited to the UK case, the book is full of overwhelming information for an expert who wants to compare the cases with other developments elsewhere.

It is an example of "country study" for the shopping centre industry that should be repeeated by other writers in other markets.

It could have been useful to have a c0-author specializing onthe economics-marketing side of the subject.

About the Author
Dr Salvador Munoz Vinas was born in 1963 in Valencia, Spain, where he continues to live and work. He is currently Professor of the Conservation Department at the Polytechnical University of Valencia (UPV), head of the paper and document group of the Heritage Conservation Institute of the UPV, and Director of the UPV professional degree programme in Heritage Conservation. His fields of research are the history of painting materials, paper conservation and conservation theory. He has published several monographs and articles on these subjects.

This book should be part of any conservator's or even curator's shelf. It reads like a thriller as it raises questions and offers answers to many issues that laid buried for decades and caused much frustration to museum professionals. It calls for open-mindedness, dialogue, flexibility, cooperation, something we all have to work on more.

About the Author
Roy Chudley has spent practically all of his working life in the building industry. After serving an apprenticeship in carpentry and joinery he worked in various design offices producing details for a wide range of buildings, from simple self-contained flats to nuclear power stations. Time was also spent working as an assistant manager in the small works department of a local building contractor. He spent the last 20 years of his career as a lecturer in Building Technology at the Guildford College of Further Education, retiring in 1987. During his time at college, Roy Chudley produced a number of books on building technology, those still in print are currently being revised for new editions by former colleague and pupil, Roger Greeno. clear direction on putting together a security survey

I have prepared several security surveys throughout the last couple of years and have always found that they were missing something. Once I started looking through this book I was given clear direction on the useful information required when conducting a security survey.
This book describes all the main sections required for a security review: Scoop of the project, organization assesment and requirements, physical security, internal controls, data system and records, emergency planning, and proprietary information, business impact analysis, survey questionary, etc.
This book goes into details on planning and analysis but does not give detailed techniques on aquireing information or what an effective security system looks like. It assumes the reader has a strong security background and is able to handle the details of investigation, interviewing, testing and evaluation. This book only touches on these topics.

Review after using Risk Analysis and the Security Survey

I bought the book to use as a reference while doing my very first risk analysis. It helped me a lot with my project. I found it easy to read and use as a reference. I used the format in the book as a guide when writing up the risk analysis I did.
If you haven't done one before and are looking for a good reference guide, this is a great resource.

Highly technical from a security perspective but lacking real world application or areas for concession if not viable to implement the Rolls Royce solution in every instance. Considerable cross referencing required or commercial experience necessary to really benefit from this text book.

Best -and ONLY- book of its kind

It's an enormous improvement from the second edition, which I also own a copy of. The book covers everything you need to know to pass state and national board examinations and become a licensed dispensing optician. My only complaints are that its contents are ordered somewhat counterintuitively, and that it's a very large, heavy volume (I have enough to tote around with my tools!)

This is a mandatory text for all practicing opticians, and recommended for optometrists who plan to dispense eyewear.
I am an optometry student, and a licensed dispensing optician with an ABO Master certification.
Excellent resource for all things related to ophthalmic optics.
Well laid out, and the updated version here has color photographs. I've used the second edition extensively, and opted to purchase this third edition for my own reference.
